The objective of DeepMarking is to cut the time lecturers spend on first-pass marking without taking away judgement. You keep the rubric, the student work, and the final mark. The platform drafts criterion scores and feedback so you can review, edit, and export.

DeepMarking is not a student LMS and not a place for students to submit work themselves. It is a marker's workspace: ingest, mark, review, export.

DeepMarking is a desktop web app for lecturers and markers. You create a marking project, attach an assessment specification and a rubric, upload student work (single files or a ZIP), run AI-assisted marking against that rubric, review the results, and export a marking sheet.

The product lives at https://deepmarking.com. Auth and data sit in your DeepMarking account. Marking uses the platform AI (Google Gemini). You do not paste your own API keys.

DeepMarking is built for people who mark assessments: lecturers, tutors, and teaching teams. It is not a student portal. Students do not log in. You upload their work, keep review in your account, and export marks for your own records or LMS.

The app is desktop-first. Use a laptop or desktop browser. Screens below 1024px show a message to switch to a larger display.

• Organise work into units and marking projects.
• Upload an assessment spec and a rubric (type it, or generate a draft from the spec).
• Ingest submissions as files or a ZIP, with caps so a huge archive cannot stall the host.
• Run AI-assisted marking against the rubric, one submission at a time from your browser.
• Review marks, edit criteria, flag items, and rate AI quality. Confirmed review can grant bonus DeepMarking tokens.
• Export Excel or PDF marking sheets.
• Choose a plan, watch token use, and personalise appearance on this device.

Your browser reads and extracts student files, then sends the extracted text (or a compact bundle) to DeepMarking. The host checks your session and token balance, loads the rubric and spec, calls Gemini, stores marks, and meters usage. The host does not download student files from storage to parse them during a mark.

AI output is a draft. You remain the marker of record. Confirm or edit before you treat a mark as final. Ratings and edits from review can steer later prompts for similar work. The production host does not fine-tune models on your marking.

New public accounts start on the default plan set by the site admin (usually Free). Free includes a daily token allowance that resets at midnight in your timezone. Paid plans (Pro, Plus, Max) add a monthly token pool via Stripe. Enterprise is not self-serve.

Each marking run spends DeepMarking tokens. Larger or more complex papers cost more, inside a fixed band. If public registration is closed, existing accounts can still sign in. New email or social signups are refused.

You decide what student information you upload. Treat submissions as confidential. DeepMarking uses that material to mark and to operate the service, as described in the Privacy Policy. Session replay and analytics mask student names and work.
