What data DeepMarking stores
DeepMarking stores your account details, your assessment files, the text each submission was marked from, and the marks. Your students' original files stay on your computer. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Account information
- Your name, email address, institution (if you add it), sign-in identifiers and profile settings such as plan, time zone and preferences.
- Your most recent IP address and when it was recorded, used to estimate your approximate location.
- For paid plans: your subscription status, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, and billing interval. Full card numbers are never stored on our servers.

When DeepMarking marks a submission, it also keeps a copy of the AI's original marks and a short excerpt of the submission's text. These are used to improve marking of that assessment.
You can see the text each student was marked from on the project card: choose Uploaded files, then View.
Where it is kept
Accounts, the database and stored files are held with Supabase. Our Privacy Policy lists all the providers that process data for us, including Google (AI marking, Google sign-in, and the ads shown on some public pages), Stripe (payments), PostHog (product analytics) and our email and hosting providers. Some may process data outside your country, for example in the United States or the EU and UK.
Product analytics
Usage events, such as which pages you open and how many submissions you mark, help us improve DeepMarking. They carry account identifiers and counts. Student names and submission text are never sent. To turn them off, open the account menu, choose Profile, then Privacy, and switch off Product analytics.
Remember recent markings keeps a short list of recent projects in your browser for the sidebar. Switch it off to stop storing that list.
Ads
Some public pages, such as Guides and Help articles, show ads from Google AdSense. The signed-in app, where you upload and mark work, shows no ads, and no student work or marking data goes to advertisers. How Google uses cookies for ads, and how to opt out, is in section 7 of our Privacy Policy.
How long it is kept
Account and project data is kept while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. You can delete projects or your whole account at any time. Residual backups and logs may persist for a limited period.

- No. Our Privacy Policy states that we do not sell student personal data.
