Export to Excel and PDF

Updated

You can download the whole class or one student at a time. Only students who have been marked are included.

The whole class

In the results list header, open Download all and choose:

OptionWhat you get
ExcelOne workbook with every marked student on a single Results sheet
All Excel (ZIP)A ZIP with one Excel marking sheet per student
CSV…A CSV file, with a choice of columns or your LMS's grade format

For the CSV options, see Export grades to your LMS.

Download all appears once at least one student is marked. If nobody is marked yet, there is nothing to export.

One student

Either:

  • Open the student and choose Download in the Marking items panel, then Excel or PDF.
  • Or use the download button on the student's row in the list, then Excel or PDF.

PDF is available one student at a time. There is no whole-class PDF.

File names

Files are named from the project's short title and the date, so repeat downloads do not overwrite each other. For example:

  • INFT2001-A1_Results_2026-09-25.xlsx for the class workbook
  • INFT2001-A1_Marking-sheets_2026-09-25.zip for the ZIP of sheets
  • INFT2001-A1_Jane_Smith_12345678.xlsx for one student (the same name ends in .pdf for a PDF)

Spaces and other special characters in names become underscores.

Inside the ZIP, when the students' files came from an LMS download, each sheet is named the way that LMS names a feedback file for the student, so a bulk feedback upload can match each sheet to its student.

Headings on the sheets

Each sheet is headed with the unit and the assessment, taken from the project. If a heading is wrong, fix Unit code, Unit title, Assessment no. or Assessment title on the project card, then download again.

After you edit marks

Exports always use the current marks, including any you have changed. Download again after editing.

Common questions

Why is a student missing from my export?
Exports include only students who have been marked. Students who are unmarked or failed are left out. Mark or retry them, then download again.
