Re-mark and retry
You can mark any student again, including ones that failed. DeepMarking re-marks from the text it kept, so you do not need to upload the files again.
Retry failed submissions
- In the results list, tick each row with the Failed status.
- Press Mark 2 selected (the number matches how many you ticked) on the project card.
A failed attempt is not charged. The retry is charged when it succeeds.
Re-mark selected students
Tick the students you want, then press Mark N selected. Use the box at the top of the list to select every submission.
Re-mark after changing settings
Changing Total marks, Strictness or Assessment type after marking does not change existing marks. The project card shows "Preferences changed. Re-mark to apply them to the whole group." Press Re-mark all to apply the new settings to everyone.
Changing Penalty / day or a student's days late does not need a re-mark. Marks update straight away.
The button labels
| Button | When you see it |
|---|---|
| Start marking | Nothing has been marked yet |
| Mark again | Everyone is marked. Tick students or change a setting first |
| Mark N selected | You have ticked N students |
| Re-mark all | You changed a setting and ticked nobody |
If files are missing
Re-marking needs the spec, the rubric and each student's stored text. If any are missing, Some files are missing asks you to add them. Submissions you add there are read on your device as usual.
What re-marking costs and changes
- Each re-marked submission uses credits, like a first marking.
- New marks and comments replace the old ones, including any edits you made.
- Confirmations are cleared and the submission's review reward is taken back.
- Your AI quality rating stays.
Remove a student instead
To remove a student and their marks, use the delete button on their row, then confirm Delete submission?.
Common questions
- Why is Mark again greyed out?
- Everyone in the project is already marked. Tick the students you want to mark again, or change a setting, and the button becomes available.
