Export grades to your LMS

DeepMarking can write a grade file your LMS can import, fill in a grade export you downloaded from your LMS, or give you a plain CSV with the columns you choose. All three are under Download all, then CSV….

The options depend on your project:

• Your LMS's grade file. Offered for Moodle and Canvas when the marked students' files carry the ID your LMS matches on. This is the recommended choice when it appears.
• Fill my grade export. Offered after you upload your LMS's own grade export on the project card. Only the grade cells change. For Moodle, the Last modified (grade) cell of each filled row is also updated, or Moodle would ignore the new grades.
• Custom columns. Always available, for a spreadsheet or another system.

Choose one, then Download CSV.

Moodle

The Moodle option produces a Moodle grading worksheet. In Moodle, go to the assignment's Submissions, then Actions, then Upload grading worksheet.

Canvas

The Canvas option produces a Canvas gradebook import. Enter the Canvas assignment name exactly as it appears in Canvas. If it differs by one character, Canvas adds a new column instead. In Canvas, go to Grades, then Import.

Fill your own grade export

This works for any LMS and always matches your gradebook.

1. Download the grade export for the assignment from your LMS.
2. On the project card in DeepMarking, find Grade export from your LMS, optional. and choose Upload.
3. Open Download all, then CSV…, and choose the Fill my ... grade export option (it names your LMS, for example Fill my Moodle grade export).
4. Check the Grade column is the one the marks should go in.
5. Choose Download CSV and upload the file back to your LMS.

The dialog tells you about any students it could not place, such as students not in the file, or students it could not tell apart. Those are left for you to enter by hand.

Custom columns

Pick from Student name, Student ID, File name, Days late, Per-criterion marks, Per-criterion comments, Subtotal, Penalty deduction, Final mark and Status.

Set your LMS

The LMS setting on the project card decides which grade file is offered. It starts on Auto-detect. You can choose Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace or Other or none.
