Ask DeepMarking, the help assistant

Updated

Ask DeepMarking is a chat assistant for questions about DeepMarking. It answers from the published Help centre and Guides, and from the text on the page you are on.

Where to find it

Look for the round Ask DeepMarking button at the bottom right of the screen. It is on:

  • Every signed-in page where you mark and review work.
  • The Help centre, the Guides and other public pages, such as Pricing and Features.
  • The home page and the results demo.

It is not shown on the sign-in pages, and not on phones or tablets, including iPads. There, use the Help centre, Common questions or Contact us.

What it can answer

  • How to do something on the screen you are on, such as "How do I change a mark?".
  • What a status, setting or limit means.
  • General questions about marking and rubrics.

Each page offers three suggested questions to start with.

It cannot see your projects or student work beyond the text on the current page, and it cannot change marks, settings, plans or billing. It does not answer questions unrelated to DeepMarking, marking or teaching.

Use it

  1. Choose Ask DeepMarking.
  2. Type in Ask a question and press Enter. Shift and Enter starts a new line. A question can be up to 1,500 characters.
  3. Read the answer. It often links to the Help article it came from.

The conversation stays with you as you move between pages in the same tab, and is cleared when you close the tab. New conversation clears it at any time. Press Esc to close the panel.

Asking questions uses no marking credits. If you ask many questions in a short time, you see "You have asked a lot of questions in a short time. Try again a little later."

Check what it tells you

AI answers can be wrong. If an answer does not match what you see, trust the screen and the Help article, and tell us.

When to contact us instead

Use Contact us for anything about your own account: a charge you do not recognise, a sign-in problem, or a marking run that keeps failing. The assistant cannot look into your account.

What happens to your questions

Your question and the text of the page go to an AI model to write the answer. DeepMarking does not save your questions or the answers. Form fields on the page are left out of what the assistant reads.

Common questions

Why can I not see the assistant?
It is not shown on phones, tablets or the sign-in pages. On a laptop or desktop, look for the round Ask DeepMarking button at the bottom right of the screen.
Can the assistant change my marks or settings?
No. It can explain what is on the page and how to do something, but it cannot change marks, settings, plans or billing.
