Find, pin and archive projects

Updated

Your projects are listed in the sidebar. The sidebar calls each project a marking. A project appears there once at least one student is marked, or while its first run is going.

Pinned and Recents

  • Pinned sits at the top and only shows once you have pinned a project.
  • Recents lists every other project. Click the heading to fold or unfold the list.

Recents is ordered by when each project was last marked, newest first. Opening a project or changing its settings does not move it. Marking a student does.

Each row shows the project's short title. Hover over it to see the unit and the assessment. A dot on the row shows that some submissions failed or some marks need review, and a project that is marking shows its progress, such as 3 / 10.

When the sidebar is folded to its icons, Pinned and Recents open a short list of the newest projects.

Choose Search in the sidebar, or press Cmd and K on a Mac, or Ctrl and K on Windows. Type part of a project's short title or name. Use the arrow keys to move, Enter to open a project and Esc to close.

Search finds projects, not students. It also finds archived projects.

Pin a project

Hover over a row and choose the pin button, or open the row's menu and choose Pin. Unpin reverses it.

Pins are stored in this browser only. Another browser or computer shows the same projects unpinned.

Archive a project

Open the row's menu and choose Archive. The project disappears from Pinned and Recents in this browser.

Archiving deletes nothing:

  • The project keeps its submissions and marks.
  • It still counts towards your plan's limit on active assessments.
  • It still opens from Search, and it is still listed under Profile, then Privacy, in Marking history.
  • Other browsers still show it in Recents.

There is no button to bring an archived project back into Recents. To open it, use Search. To free a slot for a new assessment, delete the project instead.

Rename a project

Open the row's menu, choose Rename, type the new name and choose Rename.

When the project has a unit code, the sidebar shows its short title, built from the unit code, the assessment number and the month, not the name. The new name then shows under the short title in Search. To change the short title itself, edit Unit code or Assessment no. on the project card. See Start a new marking project.

Delete a project

Open the row's menu, choose Delete and confirm. The project goes with its submissions and marks, and this cannot be undone. See Delete projects and data.

While a project is marking

A project that is marking has no pin button or menu until its run ends.

Common questions

Why did a project not move to the top when I opened it?
Recents is ordered by when each project was last marked. Opening a project or changing its settings leaves it where it is. Marking a student moves it to the top.
Why is a project missing from my sidebar?
It may be archived in this browser: use Search to open it. A project with no marked students is not listed until a student is marked.
